Grow Yourself First
Sep 01, 2024Growing yourself is the best investment you can make in yourself as a leader. Whether you are leading a group, a team, your family, or an organization, John Maxwell reminds us that your capacity to grow will determine your capacity to lead. Growth matters!
If we are trying to lead based on what we learned 5 years ago, 10 years ago, or 15 years ago, and we’re not strategically growing right now in the present, the clock is ticking on our time as a leader. Your future as a leader depends on your willingness to strategically grow yourself. Before you attempt to grow someone else, grow yourself first.
My (Cindy) next few blogs discuss the impact of strategic growth on the development of your own leadership, and the importance of building a bench of strategic leaders who will move the organization to accomplish the mission and reach the vision.
Growth begins from within. And this idea runs contrary to popular belief. Why? Because many believe leading begins from what you know. But it doesn’t. Leading begins with who you are.
Knowing and doing must be undergird by being. Being is all about the core of who you are.
Leaders are usually action oriented. They are all about doing. But they are not often about developing.
There is a critical leadership deficit in the world today. Statistics show only 10% of individuals in a leadership position are truly leading. We are on a mission to change that and I’m glad you are here, strategically growing yourself and being part of the solution.
