Being several business days into the new year, have you broken any of your resolutions yet? Since you’re reading this, I’m guessing there’s a strong chance that either you don’t make traditional resolutions OR you have more discipline than most folks who never took any action at all on their resolutions… Regardless of your answer, please understand that life gets in the way for all of us.
I used the bulk of the last two weeks’ messages touting the plan Cindy and I had put together for applying The Law of Reflection to our 2017 calendars. As with any other week, being the DRIVEN style that I am, I booked my week as full as I possibly could – leaving a block of time on Friday for this process. Since it was to be our first time intentionally reflecting, we decided that this may be all we could stand… (In reality, I think that was either Cindy’s way of showing some compassion for me having to sit still for any amount of time or she knew that’s all of my fidgeting she could tolerate.)
Things began to go downhill on Wednesday evening when I had a bit of a runny nose and a cough. It didn’t stop there… I don’t get sick so I never consider the potential impact it could have on my plans. Except this time, I did!
I had some things scheduled for Thursday morning so I left home for a few hours. When I got back, I laid on the couch and only left the house once for the next four days. I was a completely useless bum ALL WEEKEND.
The good news is that I’m on the mend AND all I have to do is reschedule our time for applying The Law of Reflection. In so many cases, people throw in the towel after a simple set back. I certainly have before. More often than not, all we really need to do is hit the re-set button or just pick up where we left off. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably way harder on yourself when you slip than anyone else would ever be.
If you’ve already drifted from your best laid plans (or when you do), correct your course and keep moving. When you do, I’ll bet you’ll blow away what most people could hope for in 2018!
